Indoors
SB ladies 10-9 OW
After trading for the first four points, Oxford started to pull away and widened the gap to be 8-5 up with less than 10 minutes to go. With not much to lose, we called a pull play and got ourselves a quick score. Then, in an incredible display of ferocious D and quick conversions, we started to put the scores away one after the other. Our comeback was a race against the clock, only managing to pull ahead in the last minute. As someone on the sideline put it, "you were in the lead for only 1% of that match".
Outdoors
SB ladies 15-8 OW
We won this game playing simple vert stack and hard man D. Oxford were unable to stop our open side cuts, which we then punished with a string of open-side throws from well-timed continuation cuts. On defense we shut down their three key players and made it hard for them to score. Oxford threw a zone against us on the occasional point but didn't manage to do much more than slow us down.
MVP went to Maggie for her sublime first-cutting, across-pitch assists into the endzone, layout score and positive attitude.
D-bag - after counting the votes slowly trickling in by email, it went to...me! Thanks guys x
Special mention goes to:
Eadaoin and Aimee for being solid handlers all day.
Sam who was responsible for many of our open-side continuations leading to easy scores.
Hannah for playing all roles on pitch to an incredible standard
Lina for making progress in leaps and bounds since training with the Strange Blue ladies this term and catching a number of our scores.
Helen Hambling's bookends moment.
Helen Brooks for her reliable mid-field cutting
Megan for her commitment to the team and helping out with captain duties off-pitch
Susanna for playing open 2nds and ladies back-to-back
Fran for her high grabs
Eleanor for playing whilst ill
